Exploring and envisioning the future through spatial experience, wellbeing and Nordic design.

Helsinki Interiors shares its Nordic Biodesign expertise through talks, workshops and training sessions. These events combine the latest research on human spatial experience, practical design knowledge and a Nordic perspective on wellbeing, culture and the meaning of space.

We also explore the wider phenomena connected to wellbeing, and how the spaces of the future will be shaped in response to changing lifestyles, values, behaviours and human needs.

We explore how light, acoustics, materials, spatial rhythm and cultural context influence human experience, concentration, recovery and interaction. We also discuss what the spaces of the future may look like, which emerging phenomena are shaping spatial design today, and what signals can already be identified for the future.

In addition, we host small-group sessions and workshops in our own space in Design District Helsinki — in an approachable, inspiring and practical format.

The sessions can be organised as keynote talks, lectures, workshops, small-group trainings or company-specific in-house sessions.

Our after work events combine inspiring conversation, spatial experience and social connection —often in collaboration with local partners and creatives.

Topics and themes of discussion

  • How the senses, the nervous system, light, materials, acoustics and spatial rhythm shape the human experience of space — what we understand about these effects today, and how future research and emerging phenomena may influence the spaces of tomorrow.

  • How place, history, architecture and environment shape the identity of a space — and why this feels natural and authentic to the people experiencing it.

We also explore how understanding cultural history can help shape more meaningful and sustainable spaces for the future.

  • Concrete design solutions for spaces that support concentration, calmness, learning and recovery.

Understanding multisensory experience has already become essential in spatial design — and its importance will continue to grow in the future. We explore the opportunities and new forms of wellbeing that multisensory design can offer in the spaces of tomorrow.

  • How recycled materials, existing structures and carefully considered material choices can be used to create high-quality, long-lasting spaces.

  • Mitä tila viestii ennen sanoja — ja miten ympäristöstä rakennetaan luonteva osa yrityksen identiteettiä.

Millainen on tulevaisuuden tilan ja brändin suhde.

  • Exploring how Alvar Aalto’s thinking continues to influence contemporary wellbeing-oriented spatial design and the future of human-centered environments.
